Edit documents in Microsoft Office desktop

Workiro has you covered with editing documents in Microsoft Office for the web, where you can take advantage of collaborative editing and seamless versioning. However, there are some important differences in the capabilities available in Office web and desktop applications; a full comparison can be found here.

Our recent beta release means you can now utilise the capabilities of Microsoft Office for desktop simply by installing the Workiro desktop application. When running the Workiro desktop app the document menu (accessed via the document rowEdit documents in Microsoft Office desktop ()_20380240167580.png ) has an option to Open in... Office for Desktop.

The document will open in your locally installed Office application, from where you can edit it as normal. When you choose to save the document, a new version is uploaded to Workiro. You'll be notified that the upload has been successful.

Note: The office for desktop integration works by monitoring a specific document location for the file being saved. Any change made to the file location will break the link to Workiro, and changes will no longer be saved.
