When printing documents to PDF from a back-office application (such as TaxCalc, Iris, or IPS) and attempting to attach them to a Wórkiro thread via the Hot Folder, the attachment may fail or the document may appear corrupted.
This article explains why this happens and what to do about it.
Why This Happens
When PDFs printed from back-office software can't be attached to a Wórkiro thread, it is usually caused by a timing issue with the Hot Folder. The Hot Folder monitors a folder for new files and attempts to process them as soon as they appear. However, some back-office applications take longer to complete writing the PDF than the Hot Folder's default timeout allows. This causes the Hot Folder to pick up the file before it has finished being written, resulting in a corrupted or incomplete file being uploaded.
What To Do
This issue requires a change to a local configuration file and should be resolved by a support representative. Please contact support and ask them to increase the Hot Folder timeout value on your machine.

- Do not attempt to edit the configuration file yourself, as incorrect changes may cause the Hot Folder to stop working.
- Once the timeout has been increased, try printing and attaching the document again to confirm the issue is resolved.
