Counter-Signing Documents in Wórkiro

Counter-signing lets you add your own signature to a document after your client has signed it, so the final version carries both signatures. This article explains how to set up a signature task with fields for both signers, and how to counter-sign once your client has finished.

How to Set Up a Signature Task for Counter-Signing

To prepare a document that you and your client both need to sign, follow these steps:

  1. Create a new signature task and give it a clear title, such as “Account Sign-off”.
  2. Make sure you and your client are both on the thread and task. You can also add other participants if needed.
  3. Optionally add guidance or a comment explaining what is being signed.
  4. Attach the document by uploading it from your computer or choosing one already stored in Wórkiro.
  5. Prepare the document for e-signing using the advanced preparation method.
  6. Drag a Name field, a Date field, and a Signature field onto the document and assign each to your client.
  7. Add a second Signature field and change its signer to yourself.
  8. Add a Name field and a Date field and assign both to yourself.
  9. Click Save and close.
  10. Review the task details, then click Create to send the signature request to your client.

Your client receives an email with a View Details link to open the thread and sign. You can leave the thread open to watch updates as they happen, or close it and check back later.

How to Counter-Sign After Your Client Has Signed

Once your client has signed, you’ll see a notification in Catch-up. To add your signature, follow these steps:

  1. Open the signature task from Catch-up or Assigned to me.
  2. Click Read and Sign.
  3. Complete your name, signature, and date fields. Wórkiro takes you to each field that needs your input.
  4. Click Finish.
  5. Open the new version of the document and confirm both signatures, both signing dates, and the signature certificate are present, then mark the task as finished.

Wórkiro creates a new version of the document containing both signatures. A preview may not be available straight away while it processes, but you can still click the document to open it.

Notes

  • Both you and your client keep access to the fully signed document. Your client can use the original email link or keep the thread open to see the latest version.
  • The task can show as assigned to more than one person, because both you and your client are signers.
